Currently our is_sha_nomination does:
- folds any whitespace, attempting to extract sha-like information
- checks that at least one of the shas has landed
Split it in two and do sha-like validation first.
This way, commits with mesa-stable and sha nominations will feature the
fixes/revert/etc instead of stable (a) or will be omitted if not
applicable for the respective branch (b).

Currently we detect when a breaking commit:
- has landed in stable, and
- is referenced by a untagged fix in master
Yet we did not consider the case of breaking commit:
- prior to the branchpoint, and
- is referenced by a untagged fix in master
Addressing the latter is extremely slow, due to the size of the lookup.
That said, we can trivially use the existing is_sha_nomination() helper
to catch reverts.

Currently we match on:
- any arbitrary length of,
- any a-z A-Z and 0-9 characters
At the same time, a commit sha consists of lowercase hexadecimal
numbers. Any sha shorter than 8 characters is ambiguous - in some cases
even 11+ are required.
So change the pattern to a-f0-9 and adjust the length to 8-40.
As we're here we could use a single grep, instead of the grep/sed combo.

Currently we force disable the pager via "|cat" where --no-pager
exists. Additionally we could use git show instead of git log -n1.

Since the script is never executed directly, but launched by Meson as an
argument to the Python interpreter, those are not needed any more.
In addition, they are the reason this script was missed when I moved the
Meson buildsystem to Python 3, so removing them helps avoiding future
confusion.

os.path.exists doesn't return True for stale symlinks, but they are in
the way later, when a link/file with the same name is to be created.
For instance it is conceivable that the pointed to file is replaced by
a file with a new name, and then the symlink is dead.
To handle this check specifically for all existing symlinks to be
removed. (This bugged me for some time with a link libXvMCr600.so
always being in the way of installing this file)

This fixes -Ddri-drivers-path, -Dvdpau-libs-path, etc. with DESTDIR when
those paths are absolute. Currently due to the way python's os.path.join
handles absolute paths these will ignore DESTDIR, which is bad. This
fixes them to be relative to DESTDIR if that is set.

Meson has up until this point set it's version in the root meson.build
script, while the other build systems read the VERSION file. This is
just "one more thing" to duplicate between meson and every other build
system. This script is a simple "read, strip, print" sort of deal to
allow meson to read the VERSION file.
I chose to implement this in python since python is portable, and to
keep the meson.build script clean. This is also complicated by the fact
that the project() call *must* be the first non-comment,non-blank in the
toplevel meson.build script.

Meson's vcs_tag() uses the output of `git describe`, eg.
17.3-branchpoint-5-gfbf29c3cd15ae831e249+
Whereas the other build systems used a script that outputs only the sha1
of the HEAD commit, eg.
fbf29c3cd1
Given that this information is used by printing it next to the version
number, there's some redundancy here, and inconsistency between build
systems.
Bring Meson in line by making it use the same script, with the added
advantage of now supporting the MESA_GIT_SHA1_OVERRIDE env var.

Meson already uses this, let's get the other build sys to use it too.
Note: rstrip() was dropped, as truncating to the first 10 chars already
gets rid of the terminating newline (not an issue with the env var
either, unless maliciously crafted to break the build... not sure this
is a real-world issue).
Verified to work and give the same output as before on both python 2
and 3 :)

If one uses a parent build script to download/build Mesa we may not
have a full git repository (maybe a tar archive) so the 'git rev-parse'
command will fail.
This updates the script to look for a MESA_GIT_SHA1_OVERRIDE env var.
If it's set, use that sha1 instead of using git rev-parse. With this
change we can put a git hash in the GL_VERSION string even when we
don't have a git repo.

This gets pretty much the entire classic tree building, as well as
i965, including the various glapis. There are some workarounds for bugs
that are fixed in meson 0.43.0, which is due out on October 8th.
I have tested this with piglit using glx.

We don't use DRYRUN (and no others scripts have one) so just drop it.
This allows us to rework the loop to the more commonly used "git .... |
while read foo; do ... done"
That in itself gets rid of the only remaining bashism and we can toggle
the shebang to /bin/sh.

The currently used range HEAD..origin/master is far too broad. It looks
for nominations within the already_landed list (branchpoint..HEAD).
Similarly we look for already_landed whiting the [possible] nominations
Rand branchpoint..origin/master.
Improve things by limiting the look ups to the branch point.

A few weeks ago, Jose Fonseca suggested [0] we use .editorconfig files
to try and enforce the formatting of the code, to which Michel Dänzer
suggested [1] we start by importing the existing .dir-locals.el
settings. The first draft was discussed in the RFC [2].
These .editorconfig are a first step, one that has the advantage of
requiring little to no intervention from the devs once the settings
files are in place, but the settings are very limited. This does have
the advantage of applying while the code is being written.
This doesn't replace the need for more comprehensive formatting tools
such as clang-format & clang-tidy, but those reformat the code after
the fact.

We recently proposed a new syntax for stable-patch nominations such as:

So we extend the regular expression to pick this up as well.
We recently adopted a new convention that patches can be nominated for the
stable branch by including a line in the commit message as follows:

This is a convenient syntax as "git send-email" will notice this line and
automatically copy the resulting patch email to the mesa-stable mailing list.
Here we extend the regular expression in the get-pick-list.sh script to also
notice this pattern, (as well as the traditional "NOTE: This patch is a
candidate..." form.
Several commits on master for the 9.1 branch had "NOTE" messages in a
slightly different format.

Automake 1.13 creates a bunch of new build artefacts:
- bin/test-driver, a script for running tests.
- *.trs files for every "make check" test result.
- *.log files containing the output of every test run by "make check".

The current code is duplicated in two places and relies on `uname` to
detect the flags. This is no good for cross-compiling, and the current
logic uses -m64 for the x32 ABI which breaks things.
Unify the code in one place, avoid `uname` completely, and add support
for the new x32 ABI.

This is part of a series to fix our build issues in the automake case
by hooking up the automatic Makefile regeneration support. The
extract_git_sha1 is moved into src/mesa/Makefile so that we get
correct dependency generation.

Needed for automake. Using AC_PROG_PATH(bison/flex) causes automake to
fail to build .y and .l files.
It is up to the builder to use bison/flex instead of yacc/lex.

It looks like we were ignoring -linker when -noprefix wasn't present, and
when -noprefix was present, -linker was mandatory and -cplusplus ignored.

Teach mklib/minstall more about cygwin so libraries are properly installed
Have mklib install the .dll into the lib/ staging directory as well
Have minstall install the .dll into PREFIX/bin at the same time as
installing the .dll.a link library into PREFIX/lib
mklib uses a '-' rather than a '.' as the separator before the version
number in library names on cygwin. Change the install globs so they match
library names like that.

Change mklib not to report the full archname when building a library for cygwin
(which is something like 'CYGWIN_NT-5.1' or 'CYGWIN_NT-6.1-WOW64' and kind of
confusing), but just 'CYGWIN'.

The bash 'cd' command tends to emit random stuff to stdout when the
CDPATH variable is set, so clear it to keep extra filenames from being
emitted from the expand_archive function, which would otherwise cause
mklib to fail.

Fix the way we make static convenience libraries, such as libmesa.a,
to be the same as linux etc.
Putting archives inside archives doesn't make the objects inside
the archive linkable, so use expand_archives() to get all the objects
inside an archive out again before linking.

Change ar flag from -v (-verbose) to -c (silence console output)
so that it stops causing make_ar_static_lib() to return a bunch
of output other than the resulting library file.

When static libraries are created from other archives, objects are
extracted and then deleted when the static library is done. This can
race when there are multiple static libraries being created from the
same archives as with libmesa.a and libmesagallium.a.
Should fix this issue with parallel jobs:
make[5]: *** No rule to make target
> `../../../../../../src/mesa/libmesagallium.a', needed by
> `radeon_dri.so'. Stop

Instead of relying on the Makefile to always generate $(TOP)/$(LIB_DIR),
just have mklib handle creating the directory. This should fix any races
when using parallel make.

The rationale here is to avoid updating a timestamp for a file that
hasn't changed. Needless updates of the timestamp can ripple into
other projects, (xserver, etc.), useless recompiling due to a
'make install' in mesa that didn't actually change anything.
Move flags for linking standard C/C++ libraries from configure.ac to mklib
Use -norunpath flag when linking with Sun C++ compiler
Convert mklib -exports list into a linker mapfile
Set FINAL_LIBS correctly when -noprefix is used
